Dare to Flare: Why You’ll Love This Summer Trend!

Posted on 11 Mar 2011 at 2:13pm

Have you ever come across a new trend, leopard print? Skinny Jeans? Capri Pants, 7 inch heels?  Did you then swear you’d never be caught dead or alive in any of them?  Guilty guilty and….guilty! I have way too much leopard print in my closet right now and it seems I can’t get enough.

If you read the article on Sassychic’s Spring/Summer Fashion Forecaster For 2011, you’ll recall the wide leg phenomenon from the 70’s that was foretasted to take over the streets of any fashion capital. Well, as promised they have arrived, the extreme end of this trend…Palazzo Pants.

To look at them I instantly think absolutely not! The wide drappy look seems over the top to me, but like I said, I’ve said that about some many other trends. This trend is already making it’s way down to high streets stores so you might just be caught out. This is a look that originated from the 70’s and has made a few appearances as all in one jump suits back in 2006/2007 spring collections.

What caught my eye about this trend is the eccentric appearance of thinking someone is wearing a long floaty skirt. On first glance you’ll be fooled into thinking it’s like a maxi skirt. I’m thinking on a hot day with not enough breeze a pair of light palazzo pants would be perfect for weather like this. The only downside I hear is that it’s not the best style if you are petite as it will make you look smaller. However teamed with a pair of wedges this may just do the trick!

I’m loving the look of the sequined gold palazzo’s from Topshop!
