Valentine’s Day Every Day of The Year!8 Comments

I don’t mind taking a day off to celebrate the independence of my country, some days off to celebrate religious holidays. So I am pretty much alright with most of the holidays around the year and look forward to most of them. If I am to pick any of my favourite celebrations then it is definitely Christmas, despite the weather being unfavourable.

My relationship with Christmas is very personal time for me, where I enjoy dinner with friends and love ones. If I’m to pick the least celebrated season every year then it will be 14th of February, the so called Valentine’s Day.

Do not get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind going for dinner at the restaurant with the one I love,or receiving all those romantic presents. Oh I do enjoy getting special attention, my issues is just that it should be everyday. Who wouldn’t want that? Getting special attention on Valentine’s Day will make me feel like I’m forcing myself to get all these treats and that wouldn’t make it real.

I couldn’t prevent myself from noticing a sign “Valentine’s Day coming soon! Book now”. This was two weeks ago and all I could ask myself was whether it has now become a compulsory task to take your love one to dinner on valentines day, or get the sexiest lingerie?

Valentine’s Day in my personal opinion has been enforced into our culture. Why it is celebrated by millions of people is a question I even refuse to ask myself and the rest of the world. This is the time of the year where loved ones, especially husbands and boyfriends are set on a test without them even being aware of it.

Those who have been in a long term relationship expect their boyfriends to propose. Husbands are expected to get sexy, red lingerie, make dinner or do anything that declares the love they have for their wives. It is the time of love but also moments of break-ups and even divorce if one is not lucky.

All these things just have to happen on one particular day. I have come to understand that a good relationship is about true love, tolerance and honesty. I am pretty much sure that a man proposing to his long time girlfriend does not make the relationship any special than it already is. It does make it sound romantic and probably interesting when telling your friends you got proposed to on Valentine’s Day. But does it have to be that expensive to declare love to the person you adore, I mean true love? And must it only be on the 14th of February?

It’s strange because we all know that Valentine’s Day is yet another celebration around the year to milk money from poor innocent people, yet every year we still get trapped in on the circus of chocolates, roses, flowers, teddy and red negligee. I’m the kinda girl who wants to get all this more than just once a year out of duty, but that’s just me!

True love must be shown all the time but not just once. Val’s day is not exciting as hearing the voice of the one u really love. Even if the love is just for a day, that day can’t be compared with it. I love u all.

Lovely writing Mabel, I agree with most of your points, except I think a little bit extra on one particular day is good for me.
