Tried, Tested and Recommend! Anti-Thinning Hair Edge Products….7 Comments

Thinning hair edges is a very unfortunate  tragedy as a result of clumsy and misguided hair styling.   I’m sure many of us have suffered at some point…whether it be a few patches here and there or large chunks and clumps of hairline  torn out from years of braiding, weaving, scrapped back pony tails, gelling, wigs, hair colouring and chemical treatments, it all adds up to damaging the very area of your hair that affects the way your hair style looks.

My huge mistake was the braids. Long. TINNY. braids. I blame Brandy! (lol) They looked great and I could do so many styles with them, which is why I loved them so much. I thought using human hair would make a difference.  Month after month I would take them out ignore the damage and get them put back in again.

I was OBSESSED with them and I began to have the hair line to show it. After my sister one day pointed out the blatantly obvious damage it was causing (I was still in denial at the time) I decided to do something about it. Glad to say though it took several months there has been major improvements based on the products and hair care regimes I have used.

Celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Alexandra Burke, Ciara and   Brandy (back in the days)  are also victims of this styling tragedy I speak of.  Even with all their fame, money and stylists they still have issues with fixing this problem.

Here are some tried, tested and recommend products that I have used and recommended to friends and family over the years to rectify the problem.

Vita Tress Biontin Scalp Creme £11-£13 *** (3 out of 5 stars)

Vita Tress Biotin Scalp Creme - This products made by Nexus claims to “penetrate the epidermis and provide and ideal environment on the scalp for the growth of healthy hair.”  It includes proteins and biotin which is meant to stimulate hair growth.

This was recommended to me by a hairdresser and although I used it till i had squeezed out every last bit I can’t say I saw the results I was expecting for the price. I would say you may need to use a couple of these before you see real results . It leaves a tingling sensation when used, has a peppermint scent and leaves white residue one the sides as it’s not very oily.  I give this a 3 out of 5 for the results I saw.

Profectiv Anti-Thinning Temple Thick Stimulant £3.99 *****(5 out of 5 Stars)

Profectiv Anti-Thinning Temple Thick Stimulant – This creme is decribed as a product that infuses hair and scalp with a deep penetrating, Pro-Strength oxygen enriched complex designed to stimulate healthy growth and circulation at the hair root.

I came across this and decided to use trial and error and I can honestly say I have recommended this to any and every member of my family and friends (whether they ask or not!) It works well if used twice a day and massaged into the scalp. The results aren’t as quick as I would have liked but you will easily see a change within a few months. Those who I have recommended it to and use in the correct way always go back for more. It has a pleasant scent and goes on easily, it’s easily absorbed into the scalp with minimal build up and is excellent value for money at £3.99. This come highly recommended!

Dr Miracle's Temple & Nape Gro Balm Review £3.99 **** (4 of 5 stars)

Dr Miracle’s Temple and Nape Grow Balm- This product I haven’t used myself as I was quite happy with the one I use (the profectiv) although I have friends that used it and have looked at the online reviews to see what people’s experiences have been. My friend had done an ill advised weave that used glue and she ended up having to cut her hair and was left with many some bald patches. She had used some of Dr Miracles products before and decided to use this particular product.

From my own research I saw that he label claims that this balm contains a patented ‘Thermalceutical complex’. This ingredient is thought to locate key scientific ingredients directly to the damaged areas. This product also says that it stimulates blood flow from the scalp into the temple and nape areas in order to promote hair growth within 30 days if used twice a day.

My friend did say that if used consistently you will see some results in the time frame that it states although she did say the product is a bit sketchy about the ingredients. This was not stated anywhere on the label and she had to go to the Internet. She also said she found that even though it dissolved quite well it does leave quite a lot of build up which can be annoying but otherwise Dr Miracles does come highly recommended by the most reviews mainly for the results and value for money.

Natural Alternatives - Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Peppermint Oil, Rosemary Oil and Vitamin E Oil are all effective in scalp and hair growth treatments due to their abilities to increase blood flow that in turn promotes healthy and effective hair growth. These oils are all quite strong and so before you use this method you will need to add what it called a carrier oil (reduces the strength of the main oil and makes it safe to use directly on the skin – using any of these oils directly can cause severe irritation). This method is used by messaging the oil directly on the scalp twice and day. ( Vitamin E is also effective if taken internally as capsules to promote and stimulate damaged hair growth).

Hope this helps and please share your stories and comments on recommendations for this post.
